CO WY MT SD and Sturgis 2015

Hey all.
So as some of you know Travis and I are doing another trip.
This time there is a total of 5 of us.
Travis and I and Mirko and Brian and Mike.
We loaded the trailer with our 5 bikes and Brian and Mike pulled the trailer to Loveland CO.
The rest of us jumped on a plane and made our way to Denver.
We all met up sunday night and Monday morning we started our trip.
We left Loveland and made our way to Rawlins WY.

Rolling Thunder Washington DC May 23-25 2015

This was my first time to Rolling Thunder and it wont be my last.
Let me give you a little history on this event.
A couple years ago somebody showed me a pic of an interstate with 5 lanes of bikes traveling to an undetermined destination.
They asked me if I knew what event this was.
From the pic i could tell that it wasn't Sturgis.
After some research I discovered it was Rolling Thunder.
Rolling Thunder is a support / demonstration that is geared mostly towards American troops present and past.
It started around 1987 and has grown ever since.
Last year there were over 900,000 people that attended the event.
This year they figured there will be about 1 million.
The ride starts at noon at the Pentagon and they ride over to Lincoln Memorial Park.
Its about 6 miles long.
I had never been to Washington DC and was eager the see the Pentagon.
Its way bigger than i thought.
I didnt partisapate in the ride....Its just way too much traffic for me pluss its a all day thing and once you are in it you are kinda trapped and cant really get out of it.
I did most of the ride at 9am while searching for the vendor area.
Even the traffic then was large.
I decided to wait till the ride started the head out in the opposite direction.
I wanted to head towards Virginia Beach.
At noon they started up there engines and the ground shook.
I'm still getting goose bumps just thinking about it.
It really was a site to see.

I arrived Saturday night and got a room right across from the Pentagon.
The motel was packed with Gangs and clubs from all over the country.
I'm sure I was one of the very few Canadians there.
I met a vet from the Infedels club.
You have to be in service or were in the service in order to be in this club.
 We chatted and shared a beer or 2 and talked about his trike.

The rest of the pics are from Virginia Beach and just north of that area.
It was a great trip....finally some decent riding without too much traffic.
After the beach i got to ride a few tunnels on hwy#13 and it was very cool to ride under the ocean.

Blaze to Morgantown WV area Friday:
To me this is the best way to go.
It takes about 6-7 hours but once you have done this you are in the heart of the great riding.
There's a nice new Tims in Washington (end of Racetrack Rd) if that matters to you.

Saturday:
Like i said #20 is a great ride and Bridge Day is quite the event.
The weather could of been a little nicer but at least i stayed dry.
Princeton is a great place to stay with an abundance of accommodations and food.

Sunday:
When the sun shines on you it sure warms you up
#598 is a great ride up the MT with a nice pull off at the top
#52 to Wytheville is a fantastic ride.
Be sure to stop at Big Walker Lookout.
Hungry Mother State Park is beautiful and i cant wait to go back.
#16 Back of the Dragon is a great ride and worthy of been given a name.
I only noticed sad / gravel in one spot and it was on a straight away.
The rest of the road was in great shape and the ivy really added some color to the route.
I didn't stop at the store at then end and i'm ****** that i forgot about it.
I'll stop in next time.
#61 has a little bit of everything and i really enjoyed the ride.

Monday:
#603 / #58 / #716 / #113
This is a great rout to take across
There's a Subway in Damascus and a great pull off on #133
#421 is a great rd and again worthy of a name.
The north has some great smooth sweepers and a couple switchbacks
The southern part is the more technical part off the ride.
#221 back up to Wytheville was a little too busy for me

Tue:
The Harley dealer in Wytheville is a great place and the treated me well.
#42 / #18 / #220 wow wow wow.
This is a great route with lots of everything.
Must stop in Point Bank.
Smoke Hole rd is a must also....thanks soooo much for this Shane.
You could easily spend a couple days riding around this area.

Wed:
Next time i will get to the top of Spruce Knob....pretty tricky ride to the top.
#33 was a little too busy for me.
#119 / #47 is a great ride over to Parkersburg
To me riding in OH is different than WV
It has short stubby hills but way more twisty.
You would come to the top of one of these short hills and wouldn't know if the road went left right or strait.
Kinda like a roller coaster affect.
I really enjoyed it and it added to the mix.

Overall a fantastic trip and i see the weather is even better down there right now.
It just goes to show you that you dont have to go all the way to the Smokies to have some great riding.
The Wytheville are is a great base and has everything you need.

The weatherman lied Wed Oct 22

Hey all
I'm in Cambridge OH.
Started out about 6c today and never really got warmer than 9c
It was suppose to be sunny today.
Oh well....it was still a great ride.
I'll be home tomorrow late afternoon
Hopefully I don't have trouble at the boarder with all that's happened in Ottawa.
